ATTHEA Teacher's Fellowship 2007

Advancing Australia’s Tourism and Hospitality Education.

Applications are invited from all tourism, hospitality and culinary teachers employed in Australian TAFE institutes.

The ATTHEA Award will be awarded to the winner during the National Conference to be held in Queensland in 2007.

The winner will receive $3000 towards the approved staff development program of their choice.

All applicants must be financial individual members of ATTHEA or included in the corporate membership of their Institute.

Fellowship Study Program

ATTHEA aims to provide encouragement and assistance to all Tourism and Hospitality teachers in their field of expertise.

The study program of the successful winner may include:

  • participation in a course/ tertiary training program
  • visit or placement in industry to enhance their teaching area
  • placement in a relevant professional organisation/educational institution in Australia or overseas, sabbatical or exchange programs overseas
  • undertake primary/secondary research relevant to your teaching specialisation, college, department, ATTHEA members or the organisation as a whole.

The Fellowship must be taken in 2007/8.

The study program must be approved and cannot be altered without the consent of ATTHEA representatives.

The Fellowship winner must:

  • provide a written report to ATTHEA at the completion of the project within two months of completion
  • conduct a work shop or present a paper to the next ATTHEA conference.

The ATTHEA agreement specifies intellectual property and copyright ownership will be applied to the Fellowship.

Application Process

  • Submit four copies of your application to the Selection Panel
  • Closing date 01 March 2007
  • Submissions must include:
    • details of any other grants sought/received
    • outcomes and long term benefits ATTHEA and its membership
    • signed application form
    • a letter of support from your Institute/College Director /Head of Studies
    • resume.
  • Entries will not be returned
  • Visual material such as videos, slides and photos can be included and will be returned upon request.

Criteria for Selection

The applicant must propose a Study Program to:

  • improve specialist skills
  • advance technical knowledge
  • include a commitment to innovation, learning and sharing skills and knowledge.

Post study program: The applicant will include an information sharing program following the completion of the project.

Selection Process – Condition of entry

  • All submissions will be evaluated
  • The selection panels decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into
  • Application evaluations will not be provided.

Announcement of Winner
A formal presentation will be held during the ATTHEA National Conference, May 2007 in Queensland.
